Genetic Testing

What It Is

Genetic tests analyse DNA, genes or chromosomes in order to identify inherited changes related to reproductive health. This includes karyotyping, which examines the number and structure of chromosomes.

Why It Is Performed

Genetic testing helps assess the risk of passing on inherited conditions and supports the choice of the most appropriate approach when planning a pregnancy or an IVF procedure.

When It Is Recommended

Genetic testing may be recommended in cases of family history of genetic conditions, recurrent reproductive failure, identified genetic abnormalities, or when a more precise reproductive assessment is needed.

How It Is Performed / Preparation

The tests are usually carried out using a blood sample or another biological specimen. Preparation depends on the specific test and is determined in advance by the specialist.
